He came back to his home find hisfamily all gone and it was ruined. He moved to Kansas to start a new life. He got married and had children. It all turned out happy in the end, and he helps with the eduation of the Holocaust.

FAVORITE BOOK

This is my favorite book because I enjoy learning about the Holocaust, because it is very fascinating and it is my favorite thing to learn about. I am fond of stories like this that start off terribly and have a happy ending. It was full of detail, and i became attached to the main character, Jack. All around a PERFECT book.

Soon after, Dizzy realizes that the stranger in her living room is her mother, who she hasn't seen since she was just two years old! The mother wants to take Dizzy for a while to live with her, but her father refuses. That doesn't stop Dizzy's mother from kidnapping her anyway. You then follow a journey of Dizzy's new life with her mom. Let's just say her mother's way of living life is much different than Dizzy pictured...

Title: Girl, 15, Charming but Insane
Author: Sue Limb

Jess Jordan is 15 years old, a sophomore from Britan. Her mom is a crazy male-hating war activist and her Granny is obsessed with death, so her home is anything but normal. This book is basically about her life, whether it be from her perfect, beautiful best friend Flora, to her major crush Ben Jones.

This book is my all time favorite because Jess's overactive imagination and nonstop sarcasm makes this book a joy to read. It had me laughing every page! Plus, its fun to hear all the British phrases they use!

Rose and her little sister Maureen stay in America, wishing for a better life. Rose is determined to get a job, so she settles for a job working at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, a sweatshop. Soon enough, a fire breaks out, many workers jumping from the building, because they have no way out, and factory safety laws have not yet been established. Why do I like this book?

Ashes of Roses is THE best book I've ever read. It is based on true events, and it's very scary to think about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, and how it actually happened. This book was very well written, and I couldn't put it down. I've read it about 5 or 6 times now, and it still doesn't get boring. Something is always happening, and it is just a great book!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Written by J.K Rowling

So many amazing books, I have read. But my recent favorite book would have to be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, written by J.K Rowling. The story is about what should be Harry’s last year at Hogwarts. But instead Harry, and his two best friends, Ron and Hermione, decide to go find information or objects, including horcruxes, to help them destroy the evil Lord Voldemort. Many of Harry’s friends die on the way. Some enemies Harry finds to be friends; some friends have turned against him. Which ones? Also love is in the air, for whom? You’ll have to read the book to find out. This book includes suspense, drama, romance, mystery, and always expect the unexpected. But I encourage you not to read this book until you have read the other six. Good luck!

My favorite book is "Mountains Beyond Mountains" by Tracy Kidder. The book describes the life of Paul Farmer, the founder of Partners in Health, a health organization that serves some of the poorest areas on Earth. At first, Paul attends Harvard College. However, early in his third year, he stole some medicine and lab equipment and left on a plane to Haiti to live with the Haitian peasants and provide a "Preferential Option for the Poor". When he first arrives, he has very little money and doesn't know Creole (the Haitian language). Despite all this, he manages to steal enough stuff and gain enough support to build Zanmi Lasanti, his first hospital. There, him and his team of seven native Hatian doctors he trained cured over 200,000 people of Tuberculosis, and created an AIDS prevention program as well as a program for woman's literacy. He revolutionized current methods for stopping AIDS, and from 1990 to 2000 cut the number of mother-infant AIDS transmissions (in the Central Plateu, where Zanmi Lasante is located) to 4%, half of the current rate in the USA. Even with AIDS and many other treatable infectious diseases ravaging Haiti, the biggest killer was still Tuberculosis. None of the local hospitals seemed to be doing anything about this, but Farmer set out and found some very wealthy supporters of his cause. Using their money, and the money he made himself as a Harvard proffessor, he began to treat every peasent in the Central Plateu, as over 90% of them had TB. Not only did he supply them with the proper medicine (at quite a price), but he provided them with food and shelter, because his studies had found that people had a much faster and more complete recovery when they had things such as running water and electricity (there were no power lines, and thus no electridity in the Central Plateu. Also, until Zanmi Lasanti gained enough money to build a sanitational public water system, there had been no running water.) In the year 1998, Partners In Health was formed, and Farmer went global. By now, he had won national recoginition and was the recipitent of the Macarthur Genius Grant. In the coming years, Partners in Health would expand to have hospitals in Moscow, Rwanda, Lesotho, Mexico, Guatemala, and even U.S. cities like New York and Miami. This story gives a whole new meaning to "making a difference".
It is my favorite book because everyone wants to make a difference, but are often too self-absorbed to try. THis book will redefine your values by showing you just how big a difference you really could make in a world where millionaires buy houses expensive enough to save hundreds of lives while children are struggling for their lives in the streets. It says in the book that no one was better at giving guilt-trips than Paul Farmer. This book made me feel guilty, and also made me think about how others around me are spending their lives.

Title: The Silent Room
Author: Walter Sorrells

The Silent Room is about a boy named Oz, who's mom is getting married to his evil gym teacher. He pushes Oz around and he treats Oz with physical and emotional abuse. When he moves in with Oz and his mom, he takes Oz to the basement and starts fighting with him and pushes him around and even tells him that he is a weak, little baby who will never be strong enough to fight him or anyone. After a while, Oz gets really strong and is able to take his stepfather down. This is when things start to get bad because Oz starts getting in trouble for things he never did, like taking drugs and starting big fights at school because he is so strong now. One night while Oz was sleeping, he got woken up by a cop in his bedroom, shaking him awake. Next thing he knew he was siting in the back seat of a police car and on his way to a military school for bad boys called Briarwood School. A soon as he got there he tried running away because he knew he didn't do anything wrong, but no one would believe him. Next minute he's being hunted down by dogs, so he gives up, and is returned to a room where he had to memorize each and every 50 rules with no food and no bed, just a chair and a table with the rules on it. After he gets out of this room, he is sure that something is wrong about this camp, because everyone keeps talking about this "silent room" where you are zipped away until you agree to sing some papers about money. Of course none of the kids know anything about signing legal documents about money, so they sign anyway. Everyone signs except Oz and this goth guy. They end up being where they definitely don't want to be. Oz, goth guy, and their friends try to get away from this torture camp, but all they get is in more trouble.

Why this is my favorite book?

The Silent Room is my favorite book because there was a lot of suspense and mystery. I was always on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put this book down. This book made me realize how being a good kid and staying out of trouble really pays off. It also told me that i can't trust everyone and that I should make sure i definitely know the person before I tell them secrets. This is why The Silent Room is my favorite book.
